My fixed gear bicycle
My fixed gear bicycle

This is what I’m trusting to carry me to Darwin. There was no branding on the frame but it is 531 which is decent. The bike is a fixed gear which is pretty simple to run and maintain so there aren’t too many parts to fail which eases the worry of breakdowns. It’s got a 36*15 gear ratio, about a 61 inch gear, small but enough to cruise at 25 km/h. The bike was, with the exception of the rims and spokes, assembled from parts I found second hand or were given to me from friends.

  • The frame is a Reynolds 531 frame and fork designed for 27″ wheels.
  • Nitto handlebars.
  • TTT quill stem
  • Brookes B17 saddle – Well broken in on the last ride.
  • Sakae cranks.
  • SPD pedals.
  • Dia-Compe front and Campagnolo Chorus rear calipers.
  • Velocity rims.
  • System Ex hubs.
  • Wheelsmith double butted spokes.
  • Jannd extreme front rack – modified with a camera mount.
